It operates under the new domain name x.com. The rebranding decision was announced by Elon Musk through a tweet.
Elon Musk began tweeting about the change on Twitter around midnight. Musk also asked the users to submit their suggestions with the logos. Musk continued to engage with Twitter users about the rebranding but Twitter hasn’t commented about anything officially.
About the new logo: Musk selected a "minimalist art deco" design, initially suggested by a Twitter user, Sawyer Merritt.
The choice of the letter "X" in the rebranding is consistent with Musk's history of incorporating the letter into many of his ventures. The association with the letter “X” can be traced back to the original name of Paypal (X.com) to SpaceX, Tesla and many other projects.
While some people support the change on the other hand many long-time Twitter users are less enthusiastic about this rebranding which has changed the entire look of it.
The rebranding also incorporates other recent changes introduced by Musk such as limiting DMs for non-paying users and adding a hiring feature for Verified Organizations.
Twitter has not yet officially commented on the rebranding.
