Public Distribution System established by Govt. of India under Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution is jointly managed by the State Government with the sole objective of distributing staple food grains and non-food items at subsidized rate through a network of Ration shops established in all states. To ensure food security for the poor and needy and sustain the overall food economy, the department of food and public distribution has taken several initiatives for timely and efficient procurement and distribution of food grains.
